Foil Hi is a water sporting brand based out of Hawaii, specializing in hydrofoil equipment for surfing and windsurfing. I was contracted to design a logo and marketing materials fitting the owner's parameters for the brand imagery.
These were the final vector logos created through multiple iterations that were filtered and selected by the client. The logos include a triangle motif inspired by Polynesian weave patterns which were used to make an icon of a hydrofoil used in the company's surf equipment, as well as an abstract rendition of the Hawaiian islands in an aerodynamic form, resembling a kite or ocean spray.
References and guide images provided by the client. The Polynesian fishhook design was referenced first as a potential jumping off point, while the surf logo and pencil sketches made by the clients partner were provided during the iterations to narrow the logo down to graphic, monochrome icon.
These were the "flights" of image groups sent to the client in between rounds of design iterations. The collaboration went incredibly smooth as they we're very clear on what they wanted in their logo. The image groups were sent back with numbered descriptions of what aspects they liked, and then the favorites were circled in the second round, where multiple versions of these aspects were stylized in a few ways the client could choose from.
